DRINK 1: POPCORN MILK TEA WITH BROWN SUGAR TAPIOCHI

hit up torotea with some friends this past weekend and i must say, i was quite impressed!

as someone who doesn’t like extremely sweet drinks, i would have never expected a popcorn-flavored drink to taste good, but this managed to capture the buttery aftertaste of popcorn without being overly saccharine. the brown tapiochi was also not too sweet and just the perfect amount of chewy. very very good!

they had free samples of their 901 black tea, which was also quite yummy. big ups to torotea!

DRINK 2: FIG & VANILLA MATCHA LATTE

(forgot to take a picture before I finished the drink lol)

my bestie & i spent MLK wandering around Silverlake, eating pastries, and trying new drinks… which led us to Yala!

it’s important to note that we are matcha fiends. we love matcha. i have 200+ grams of matcha in my freezer. so we weren’t gonna go easy on Yala…

…and it delivered!

fig puree? delicious. matcha? dank as hell. the only critique i have is that the matcha didn’t feel fully mixed in – the texture of the drink was grainy and even a little watery.

but overall, would definitely get this drink again!

DRINK 3: MENDL’S PEPPERMINT MOCHA

to be fair to Dayglow, my bestie and i stumbled into its faded pink interior exhausted and full of sugar. we’d had bagels, matcha, pastries, and way too much time in the sun.

so perhaps that’s why my lil peppermint mocha didn’t make much of an impression. there was nothing wrong with it! but it was, as i mentioned to my bestie, nothing more than “the nicest version of a Starbucks peppermint frappuccino” i’ve ever had.

and y’know, sometimes that’s what you want! so overall, i’d consider this a success.

that’s all the drinks i’ve got for now! will be adding more to this every time i try a new one. 🙂
